  Since Leaving "The Truth" Are You Really Happier?

  witnesses say that when people leave "the truth", they get involved in a debauched life, misery, and general unhappiness.. they give experiences of some that left the "sweet fellowship" of the "brotherhood" and the awful results because of it.

  then, they come back and their lives change 100% for the better!.

  have you found life to be miserable and unproductive since "leaving jehovah"?.

  100% YES - I felt an imediate relief when I knew they were wrong and I didn't have to play there "game" my happiness took time though. I felt anger and regret and lost and more anger!!! I didn't know what i thought about ANYTHING didn't know how to make decisions!!! But I think we all had to go through some transition raised in JW's never got a normal foundation!!! 100% happier

  What Actually Helped You Leave The Organization?

  after seeing some threads about how some think that being direct (like danny hazzard) is the best way to get people out of "the truth" or being very subtle is most effective----i was wondering what exactly made you leave the organization??.

  were you more impressed by websites that were informational?

  what really got you thinking to leave the religion and its mindset?.

  I never liked how it controled every aspect of my life!!! married a controling JW - I think that goes hand and hand for the most part. I didn't like how woman were treat inferior and almost stupid! the brothers would give these bad talks and i knew there wives could do so much beter! What made me stop going was the lack of love and judgement you get the second you do something against the rules - divorced an elder!!! I read COC and that helped me know the religion was just plain wrong and Steve Hansen's book on cult mind control and now I can say I know they are a cult and would love to get my loved ones out. Started on facebook but that got complicated when people i knew figured out it was me so came to this site and it has been a life saver!!!

  Yay, I'm a registered voter!

  i went to renew my driver's license today, and decided to become a registered voter too!.

  i got a temp card and i'll get a permanent one in few weeks.. one more step out of jw bizarro world!.

  i had a turtle sundae at dairy queen to celebrate!

  there always seemed to be some witnesses who seemed to be in it for the social aspect of it.

  the ones who planned most of the gatherings and trips.

  and the ones who got invited to the parties two states away.

  born in!! bap at 12 started pioneering right after HS i was the "congregation kid" I was "social"!!! Everyone loved me or so I thought!!! I studied a lot but had to not study too much cuz it seemed the more I learned the more confused I got? I knew the Revelation book was BS all 5 times we studied it!!!! I'd say the lack of love made me stop going but as I learned the bogus truth about the truth that made me not ever want to go again and know it is a cult!!!!

  thinking about when you were a lurker, or when you first started to post...what were the topics that made the greatest impression on you toward realizing the lies, manipulation, and hipocracy of the watchtower?

  what information found here sealed the deal for you that your suspicions had been correct?

  is there a thread that really opened your eyes?.

  for me it was all the life stories... I felt like I was the only one going thru such intense emotions. Knowing there are so many and how much improved there lives are after leaving!!!! saved me!

  What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?

  i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.

  and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.

  so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

  when still in the watchtower, i used to be an assistant ministerial servant.

  true, there is no such title but its there unofficially for those one step to being a ministerial servant.

  been with it for about three years.

  Pioneered for 12 years and did the SOUND as a girl big deal!!! moved where the need was greater - made it even greater!!! my EX was an elder 10 years gave CA, DA talks... he thought he was something!!!

  First Time that I Didn't Go to the Memorial - Now Depressed

  so this was the very first time in my whole life that i didn't go to the memorial.

  my wife went, and she was sullen before and after... i know she wanted me to go.

  i told her afterwards that if she wants me to go next year i would, but she didn't say anything.

  i was sad the day before knowing this was going to be my 1st no show but after i felt relief... but... i don't have a spouce IN so i can imagine only imagine how hard that would be.... i don't know what will fix it but i do think time will help and talk to your wife!!!
